Bank of the Republic of Burundi Holds General Staff Assembly on Vision and Strategic PrioritieRevamping aging infrastructure for future generations

On January 9, 2026, the Management of the Bank of the Republic of Burundi (BRB) convened a general assembly bringing together all staff members to discuss the institution’s vision and strategic orientations. The meeting served as a platform to align the Bank’s priorities with the national development vision and to clarify the role of each staff member in the effective implementation of these objectives.

During the assembly, BRB Management emphasized that the Bank’s strategic direction is fully aligned with the country’s overall vision, underscoring the central role of the central bank in supporting economic stability and sustainable development. Staff were encouraged to actively contribute, within their respective responsibilities, to the successful execution of ongoing reforms and policy measures.

The Governor highlighted that, in 2026, priority efforts will be directed toward macroeconomic stabilization. Particular attention will be given to reducing the gap between the official and parallel market exchange rates, a key challenge affecting economic confidence and financial stability. Addressing this issue, the Governor noted, is essential for restoring balance in the foreign exchange market and strengthening the national economy.

In addition, the Governor stressed that the complete digitalization of the financial sector remains a major strategic focus for the Bank. Significant progress has already been made in this area, with implementation at an advanced stage. The digital transformation of the financial system is expected to enhance efficiency, transparency, and financial inclusion, while modernizing payment systems and regulatory oversight.

The general staff assembly reaffirmed the collective commitment of BRB Management and staff to work together toward achieving these strategic goals, in support of Burundi’s broader economic vision and long-term development objectives.
